Adorable Cotton Ball Sheep Paper Plate Craft for Kids

If you're looking for a fun and easy farm animal craft, this cotton ball sheep paper plate craft is exactly what you need! Kids absolutely love how fluffy and cute this little sheep turns out, and the best part is it only takes a handful of simple supplies to make. Whether you're doing a farm theme at home, in the classroom, or just looking for a creative afternoon activity, this paper plate sheep is a winner every time.

Why Kids Love This Craft

There's something irresistible about gluing cotton balls — it's squishy, satisfying, and the fluffy result looks amazing! This craft also sneaks in some great fine motor skill practice through cutting, gluing, and accordion folding the legs. It's simple enough for toddlers with a little help, and fun enough to keep preschoolers and early elementary kids fully engaged.

What You'll Need

  • 6-inch paper plate (or white paper)
  • Black paper (or paint, marker, or crayon)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Googly eyes (½ inch)
  • Cotton balls (about 20–30)

How to Make a Cotton Ball Paper Plate Sheep

Step 1 — Cover the plate with cotton balls. Glue cotton balls all over the paper plate until the entire surface is fluffy and full. This is your sheep's woolly body, so pack them in nice and tight!

Step 2 — Cut out the sheep shapes. Use the template to trace the head, ears, and legs onto black paper and cut them out. No black paper? No problem — just color the template pieces black and cut those out instead.

Step 3 — Accordion fold the legs. Take each leg strip and fold it back and forth in a zigzag pattern to give it that fun bouncy look. Glue the finished legs to the bottom back of the cotton ball plate.

Step 4 — Attach the ears. Glue the two small ear shapes onto the top sides of the black head piece.

Step 5 — Glue the head to the body. Position the black head on the upper right side of the fluffy plate and glue it down.

Step 6 — Add the googly eyes. Glue two ½-inch googly eyes onto the face, let everything dry, and your sheep is done!
