Spring Paper Flower Wreath Craft for Kids – Free Template
If you're looking for a spring craft that doubles as stunning wall or door décor, this paper flower wreath is going to blow you away! Built from layered folded petals, green leaves, paper pollen strips, and colorful pompom centers, this wreath looks like something you'd find at a boutique craft store — but kids can make it themselves with just paper and a few basic supplies. Whether you're decorating a classroom for spring, making a Mother's Day gift, or just bringing some color into your home, this wreath is a total showstopper.
Why Kids Love This Craft
This wreath has a really satisfying build process — kids layer petals in two directions to create a full, dimensional flower, then repeat it around the whole plate. Every flower gets its own pompom center and paper pollen strips, which makes each one feel like a tiny finished project on its own. Using colored paper makes the whole thing pop without any extra coloring needed, and kids love getting to mix and match their favorite spring colors. It's a wonderful craft for building patience, fine motor skills, and creative decision making all at once.
What You'll Need
- Paper (colored if possible)
- Markers or crayons (if not using colored paper)
- 9-inch paper plate
- Scissors
- Glue
- Pompoms
How to Make a Spring Paper Flower Wreath
Step 1 — Print the template. Print all the template pages including the petals, leaves, and pollen strip pieces.
Step 2 — Color the petals if needed. If you're using white paper, color the petals in bright spring colors — pinks, blues, yellows, purples, and greens all look gorgeous together. Or skip this step entirely by printing on colored paper!
Step 3 — Cut out the petals. Carefully cut out all the petal pieces from the template.
Step 4 — Glue the first layer of petals in a plus shape. Arrange four petals in a + shape on the paper plate and glue them down. This is the first layer of your flower.
Step 5 — Add the second layer of petals in an X shape. Glue four more petals in an × shape on top of the first layer, filling in the gaps between the petals. This creates the full, layered flower look.
Step 6 — Add leaves between flowers. Cut out the leaf pieces and glue them between each flower around the wreath for a lush, garden feel.
Step 7 — Add the pollen strips. Cut out the pollen strip pieces, fold them, and glue them onto the center of each flower so they fan out like real stamens.
Step 8 — Glue on the pompoms. Finish each flower by gluing a colorful pompom right in the center on top of the pollen strips. Let everything dry completely.
Your gorgeous spring paper flower wreath is ready to hang! 🌸
Tips for Making It Even Better
- Using pre-colored cardstock is the biggest time saver — it makes the wreath look more vibrant and skips the coloring step entirely.
- Mix flower colors around the wreath rather than grouping same colors together for a more dynamic, eye-catching look.
- Choose pompom colors that contrast with the petals — a bright yellow pompom on a blue flower or a pink pompom on white petals really pops.
- Add a ribbon loop to the back of the plate before you start so it's ready to hang the moment it's done.
