Valentine Bumble Bee Craft for Kids

Valentine Bumble Bee Craft for Kids – Free Template (Bee Mine!)

If you're looking for a Valentine's Day craft that's equal parts cute and clever, this Valentine bumble bee is going to be your new favorite! Made entirely from heart shapes stacked and layered to form a bumble bee body, with pipe cleaner antennas, pompom tips, and red heart wings, this little bee is as sweet as it is creative. Whether you're crafting at home, making valentines for classmates, or planning a classroom Valentine's Day activity, this bee is guaranteed to make everyone smile.

Why Kids Love This Craft

The genius of this craft is that everything is made from hearts — and kids absolutely love discovering that a bee can be built out of valentine shapes. The pipe cleaner antennas with pompom tips add a fun 3D element, and getting to write "Bee Mine" on the bottom heart makes it feel like a real personalized valentine. It's a wonderful craft for fine motor skill development through cutting, gluing, and drawing, and simple enough for preschoolers with a little help while still being fun for older kids to make independently.

What You'll Need

  • Printed template
  • Markers, crayons, or colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Pipe cleaner
  • ½ inch pompoms (2)

How to Make a Valentine Bumble Bee

Step 1 — Assemble the bee body. Glue the black and yellow heart shapes together in an overlapping, alternating pattern to build the bumble bee's striped body. Stack them vertically with each heart slightly overlapping the one above it.

Step 2 — Add the wings. Glue the two red hearts on either side of the body as wings. Position them pointing outward for that classic bee silhouette.

Step 3 — Make the antennas. Cut a pipe cleaner down to size for two antennas and glue them to the back of the top heart, curving them upward.

Step 4 — Add pompom tips. Glue a ½ inch pompom to the end of each pipe cleaner antenna for the finishing touch.

Step 5 — Draw the face and message. Use a marker to draw eyes, a smile, and rosy cheeks on the top white heart head. Write "Bee Mine" or any sweet valentine message on the bottom heart. Let everything dry completely.

Tips for Making It Even Better

  • Use red pompoms on the antennas to keep the Valentine's Day color scheme going — pink or white pompoms look great too!
  • Write different bee puns on the bottom heart for extra laughs — "Bee My Valentine," "You're Bee-utiful," or "Bee-long Together" are all adorable options.
  • Make one for each classmate for a uniquely handmade valentine that stands out from store-bought cards.
  • Older kids can try cutting their own heart shapes freehand for an extra creative challenge.
