Valentine Dog Face Craft for Kids

Valentine Dog Face Craft for Kids – Free Template

If your little ones love dogs and Valentine's Day, this heart-shaped puppy face craft is going to be an instant favorite! Built entirely from heart shapes — floppy ears, a heart nose, and a big red tongue — this adorable dog face is one of those crafts that looks almost too cute to give away. Whether you're making valentines for classmates, crafting at home, or planning a classroom Valentine's Day party activity, this paw-some pup is guaranteed to make everyone smile.

Why Kids Love This Craft

The secret that makes this craft so fun is that the ears are made by cutting a heart in half — and kids absolutely love that clever trick. Once they see how it works, they feel like they've discovered something genius. The googly eyes add instant personality, and the red tongue peeking out from the bottom gives the finished dog so much charm. It's simple enough for preschoolers with a little help, quick enough to make in multiples for a whole class, and cute enough that kids will want to keep one for themselves.

What You'll Need

  • Paper for face and ears
  • Paper for tongue and nose (red and black)
  • Googly eyes (½ inch)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Black marker

How to Make a Valentine Dog Face

Step 1 — Cut out all the shapes. Cut out all the template pieces — the face, ear heart, nose heart, tongue, and cheek pieces.

Step 2 — Make the floppy ears. Cut the large ear heart in half and glue one half on each side of the face, rounded side down, for those signature floppy dog ears.

Step 3 — Glue on the nose. Position the black heart nose in the center of the face and glue it down with the point facing downward.

Step 4 — Glue on the googly eyes. Attach two ½-inch googly eyes just above the nose for maximum puppy charm.

Step 5 — Add the tongue. Slide the red tongue piece underneath the bottom edge of the face and glue it from the back so it peeks out below the nose.

Step 6 — Draw the finishing touches. Use a black marker to add small whisker dot circles on each cheek. Let everything dry completely.

Your totally paw-some Valentine dog face is ready to deliver some love! 🐶

Tips for Making It Even Better

  • Use brown paper or cardstock for the face and ears to get that classic puppy look just like in the photo.
  • Make these assembly-line style for a whole class — cut all the shapes first, then let kids assemble and decorate their own.
  • Write "You're Paw-some!" or "I Woof You" on the back for a sweet valentine message that goes with the theme.
  • Add a card backing so kids can write a personal note to their valentine on the back.
